The City of Picayune will begin collection of storm debris Monday morning , September 13, 2021.  There will be two teams working on the east and west sides of Picayune simultaneously. The work will begin in the north and will progress southward until complete. With good weather we hope to be completed in 2 – 3 weeks.

Only vegetative (green) debris will be collected. There will be no need to call in, crews will be going down every City street until complete. We will wait approx.. 2 weeks before running another collection cycle in order to catch additional storm debris not yet placed by the streets. Therefore debris placed at the street after the contractor passes through will sit approx. 2 weeks until the next collection cycle.

Please make every effort to get all vegetative (green) waste to the street edge asap.

White goods, tires, scrap metal and other (non-household and non-green waste) shall be called into the Public Works department at 601-799-0602601-798-0031 or “311” for scheduled collection as usual. The City of Picayune personnel will be collecting these waste items.

The household waste or “cart content” collection schedule continues as usual.

Please address any questions to the Public Works Department  at the aforementioned contact numbers.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation.

With Best Regards,

Eric Morris

Director of Public Works
