Retirement

A peaceful community with a rural atmosphere and hometown values, Picayune is the ideal place for retirees. The gently rolling hills, fresh air, clean water, and short winters give an easy-going country feel. Picayune has everything a retiree needs civic organizations, golf courses, events, shopping, fishing, hunting, and more. These are many reasons the American Association of Retirement Communities (AARC) awarded the City of Picayune its National Seal of Approval.

Even the Hometown Mississippi Retirement attraction program designated Picayune as a Certified Retirement City because it offers:

  • Affordable cost of living
  • Low taxes
  • Low crime rate
  • Mild climate
  • Medical care
  • Recreational, educational and cultural opportunities
  • A warm, friendly community
